Is it me, or does it seem as though very few employees possess Attention to Detail?
What exactly is ATTENTION TO DETAIL?
- It’s taking that extra minute or two to ensure what every product or service you are providing is absolutely PERFECT!
- Having a sense of PRIDE and ENJOY in the work that you put out.
- A mindset that you will not COMPROMISE by providing a mediocre product or service.
- And a mindset that you won’t put out any work that’s less than EXCEPTIONAL?
What are BAD EXAMPLES?
Now, examples of NOT having Attention to Detail include:
- Having a lack of time management, so anytime you’re asked to do something it’s always late.
- Not carefully proofreading or editing a document before it goes out.
- A lack of organization.
- Or, finding that you didn’t do something properly. And not making time to correct it – because you don’t think anyone will notice it.
Key Statistics
However, when employees are DETAIL-ORIENTED it absolutely results in more loyal customers -who are eleven (11) times more likely to return; spend more money with your company; and definitely recommend your products and services to others.
What are Action Steps I Can Take to Improve?
Attention to Detail is a skill and quality that is often demonstrated in your level of observation, care, accuracy, and thoroughness in getting a job done. So always…
- LISTEN carefully before starting a task to ensure you understand and get the exact instructions.
- Take a moment to PLAN out how you will accomplish the task, so there’s no disorganization or chaos especially if others will be helping you.
- Commit to doing it RIGHT the FIRST time. Don’t compromise on quality, even if you have little time to get it done.
- Double CHECK your work. Making sure it has your seal of approval before sending it out.
- Once you’ve perfected the process, DOCUMENT it so there’s little to no variation when and if you have to do it again.
What are the BENEFITS of Having an ATTENTION TO DETAIL?
- Your credibility is strengthened, because you become known for exceptionally high-quality work.
- It’s guaranteed that your customers will be pleased.
- And the reputation of your company (and yourself) is heightened because ATTENTION TO DETAIL exemplifies professionalism and shows that you really care.
